A HEAVENLY HOME

Read John 14:1-6

Jesus said, “My Father’s house has many rooms...if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.” ~~John 14:2-3~~

When I was pregnant for the first time, I was so excited to become a mom. I spent hours decorating the babies room in anticipation of his arrival. My husband and I painted the walls, picked out furniture, and purchased the special touches to prepare the nursery for our son’s homecoming. As I tucked tiny t-shirts and little socks into his dresser drawers, I would imagine what he would look like and how sweet it would be to hold him in my arms. Sitting in the rocking chair in his nursery, I would look around and smile at what we had lovingly prepared for the arrival of our son. I was filled with excitement and anticipation.

Just as a new mom looks forward to the day that she will bring her baby home, Jesus is planning to come back for us and take us to his Father’s house where he has lovingly prepared a room for us. He wants to spend time with us and is excited for our arrival.

In the meantime, we can eagerly and prayerfully await his return, when he will take us to our heavenly home. The thought of a room prepared by the Savior himself is enough to make me smile and fill me with excitement and anticipation. Jesus is preparing a room for me.

Sarah Lyons (Kansas)

Dear Savior, thank you for lovingly preparing a place for us in your Father’s house. Help us to follow you as we await your return. Amen

Jesus is coming! Are you ready?
