HAVE FAITH

Read Mark 2:1-12

The prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven.

~James 5:15~

I serve a small church in Estonia. One Sunday morning before the service began, the phone rang and a desperate mother said to me, “Our Son Romet has been diagnosed with an incurable disease. Doctors give us no hope, and he does not have much time left. We have heard that God can help in such situations.”

“Yes,” I replied, “God can help, and we will pray for your son.” The woman responded, “We will come right now to your service!” I hesitated, thinking, What if we fail? Can we really help this family?

When I arrived at the church, the family was already waiting for me. We changed the order of the service and took time to pray for Romet. We relied on God’s promises. Some months later the family returned. The boy’s mother said, “Romet has been healed! His doctors are amazed, and we give praise to God!”

This story reminds me when Jesus healed the paralyzed man in today’s reading. Because of the faith of the man’s friends, Jesus healed him and forgave his sins. Though Jesus may not heal each of us in the same way, he can do miraculous things in our lives.

Prayer is powerful.

Rando Metsamaa(Estonia)

Dear Lord, help us to trust that our faithful prayers make a difference. Amen

Jesus is coming soon! Are you ready?
