Read John 21
When they had eaten, Jesus said to Simon Peter, son of John, Do you love Me more than these (others do---with reasoning, intentional, spiritual devotion, as one loves the Father)? He said to Him, Yes, Lord, You know that I love You(that I have deep, instinctive, personal affection for You, as for a close friend). He said, Feed My lambs.
John 21:15
Three times Jesus asked Peter, "Do you love Me? Peter, Do you love Me? Do you love Me, Peter?" Finally, by the third time, Peter was grieved that Jesus kept asking him the same thing. He said, "Yes, Lord, You know that I love You." Then we discover the solemn reason Jesus was asking Peter that question. "I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, when you were young you girded yourself (put on your own belt) as you walked about wherever you pleased to go. But when you grow old you will stretch out your hands, and someone else will put a girdle around you and carry you where you do not wish to go. (John 21:18).
If we really want God's perfect will, He may ask us to do things that we do not want to do. It we really love Him, we will let Him have His way in our lives.
Joyce Meyer
Dear Father, help us to submit to your will and not our own. Amen
Jesus is coming! Are you ready?
