~Read 1 Corinthians 2:1-10~
The suffering of the present time are not worth comparing with the glory about to be revealed to us.
~Romans 8:18~
I tend not to spend much time thinking about heaven but focus instead on enjoying the benefits of this world, like watching movies, eating, and fishing. However, God directs us to “set our minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth” (Colossians 3:2).
One exercise that has helped me shift my focus is to read the descriptions of heaven in the Bible and then trust the Holy Spirit to motivate my imagination to picture myself being there. One day, my picture of heaven involved a castle, acres of fall foliage, fellowship with friends, and personal time with Jesus. I came away from the exercise more excited and looking forward to heaven. Of course, heaven will be much better than anything I can possibly imagine.
I have found that looking forward to heaven this way has helped me to see that my hardships here are nothing compared to the glory I will experience in heaven. If we can always keep the joys and pleasures of our destination in mind, then our journey will be full of joy.
Thinking of heaven makes me more joyful about salvation in Christ.

Help us, God, be thankful every day for Christ’s sacrifice until we find our home in heaven with you. Amen
Jesus is coming soon! Are you ready?
Seek Him now while He may be found!
