Read Psalm 5:1-12
In the morning, Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly.
~Psalm 5:3~
I used to begin my days by greeting family members. Then, as I would come in contact with other people, I would greet them. One day I wondered, What would happen in my relationships with those I care about if I didn’t acknowledge them? That made me realize that when I first wake up, God is there waiting for me. God deserves to be acknowledged, but what if I don’t acknowledge God?
I need God in my life every day, so I decided that when I first wake up and am still lying in bed, I would greet God. Many times, I thank God for a good night’s sleep, and sometimes I complain a little if it was not a good night. Each day, I acknowledge that God is first on my mind. Then I get up.
God deserves our attention, and I have discovered that when God is the first thought of my day, God becomes more important in my daily journey. All throughout the day, I remind myself that God is with me. When I seek God first, then the rest of my day is transformed.
Acknowledging God is my first offering of love each day.
